Respondent in Divorce Proceedings

Our fixed Fee service for Respondent’s in divorce proceedings is designed to allow you to obtain advice about the divorce simply and cost effectively. Our service includes all the steps the respondent is required to take in the process, from taking your initial instructions to completing the Acknowledgement of Service and lodging it at court.  Your divorce will be managed by one our specialist family solicitors who will deal with all the paperwork on your behalf and will explain to you the process and advise you of how to best protect your interests.

We will conduct your divorce in accordance with the Law Society’s Family Law Protocol and in accordance with the Resolution code of conduct. You can therefore rest assured that your divorce will be dealt with professionally and efficiently.

What are the costs?

• Our fixed fee is £150 inclusive of VAT

This is payable when you instruct us. Please note that the above does not include any court fees or disbursements.

What is included?

• Taking your instructions on the proposed proceedings and advising you accordingly;
• Preparing the acknowledgment of service and lodging it at court;
• Writing up to 3 letters to your spouse or their solicitor (after which each letter written is charged at £17 plus VAT)
• Sending you your decree nisi and decree absolute and advising you about each document.

 What is not included?

• Defending or cross-petitioning in the divorce;
• Preparing statements or letters or attending any hearing to defend any application your spouse may have made for costs;
• Applying for decree absolute (this should be done by your spouse who will  be the petitioner)
• Any advice or proceedings concerning property, finances, pensions or children.
