Jackson Reforms – Pilot Schemes
The long awaited reforms to the Civil Justice system recommended by Rupert Jackson QC following his extensive review of the current system are due to be implemented in Autumn 2012, subject to Parliamentary approval. Some of the recommendations, which to not require Parliamentary approval but merely changes to the Rules, have already been implemented but are being held in escrow with a view to bringing in all the reforms at the same time. However, some of the suggested reforms are already in place as pilots in some courts and if you have cases running in these courts you need to be aware that the proceedings will be subject to the “new” pilot schemes.
